Title: Fundamentals of Paleontological Resources Management
This training broadcast was designed to provide BLM field office managers and paleontological coordinators, who have administrative responsibilities in the management of paleontological resources on public lands, with knowledge of what those resources are, their importance, and the tools available for effective management.
The broadcast was delivered over a two-day period. The first-half of day one was intended for field office managers. It focused on the importance of fossil resources, key policies, and BLM's roles and responsibilities for successful management. However, the course also addressed BLM's authorities for managing paleontological resources, geology and paleontology fundamentals needed to implement the Potential Fossil Yield Classification System (PFYC), mitigation of paleontological resources impacted by Federal actions, and the paleontological resources use permit process.
