The welcoming, familiarization, and adjustment, of new employees is a process too important to be left to chance. The private and public sectors have learned the hard way that how they handle the integration of new employees into the workplace has a strong effect on employee satisfaction and contribution. The Supervisor's Handbook for Orienting New Employees helps supervisors of new employees understand the importance and intricacies of the new employee orientation process. It identifies what should take place during orientation and which individuals are responsible. The handbook also contains various checklists and discussion guides designed to assist in the orientation process, including employees' rights, responsibilities, and opportunities. Supervisors should use this handbook in conjunction with the video Orientation - The Foundation of a Solid Career: "An Overview for Supervisors," and the book, Orientation Sponsor's Guide. Additionally, supervisors of new employees should at least be familiar with the information in the Orientation: Employees Handbook as well as the information presented in the Employee Orientation Video Series.
