Course: Working in Teams
Target: BLM employees and managers at all
professional levels. The course is delivered at the request of the
Washington office, state offices, field offices, or any of
the centers and is brought to your location.
Goal: Learn how to form an effective
team and continue to develop the trust and synergism needed for efficient
teamwork. The course provides instruments for learning about each
other and tools for conducting effective meetings, brainstorming, and
problem solving, including:
Developing mission statements
Writing team ground rules and operating procedures
Using for problem solving processes
Practicing team building skills
Objectives:
| 1. Performing in trainee or
work teams, participants will define their mission, operating
procedures and ground rules, which will enable them to begin to
function effectively as a team. |
| 2. Practicing in trainee or
work teams, participants will use decision making and
communication techniques that involve all team members including:
discussion methods, listening skills, feedback, problem solving,
conflict resolution, consensus, and building trust. |
| 3. After completing a
personal profile, participants will recognize the value of
communication style, personal, and skill differences; share
profile information with other team members and discuss benefits
of a diverse work team; and demonstrate how to best work with each
other to accomplish team goals. |
| 4. During team exercises,
participants will facilitate, record, observe, and participate in
actual team meetings. |
