VRM - Dark Skies Initiative Two-Hour Broadcast

This Knowledge Resource Center (KRC) site is in support of the Dark Skies Initiative two-hour broadcast delivered Thursday, November 3, 2016. The purpose of the broadcast was to build a general awareness of how natural night skies are an important resource and also introduce Washington Office initiatives to help the field address the rising issues surrounding this resource. National Park Service and Argonne National Laboratory presenters shared methodologies they developed for assessing impacts from anthropogenic light on natural and cultural resources and BLM will shared a project currently underway to develop technical guidance on best management practices (BMP) designed to protect natural night skies and how field personnel can interact with the project.
