DSPN Academy - Planning and NEPA Administration

The sessions shown below address activities associated with the NEPA and Planning processes that are needed in order to complete these processes. There are sessions addressing public outreach (Parsing and Responding to Public Comments, Effective Public Involvement, CADR’s Role in Planning and NEPA Projects), sessions addressing how BLM is moving forward with changing business practices (Improvements to Planning and NEPA Business Practices) and purely internal administrative tasks like Compiling Comprehensive Decision Files, Preparing and Conducting Briefings for the Departmental Review Team, and Effective Use of Contracting.

  6. Compiling Comprehensive Decision Files (1:22:51)Description: Overview of Washington Office Instructional Memorandum 2016-127, Decision Files and Administrative Records for Land Management Decisions, and the Deputy Secretary of the Interior Memorandum, Compiling Contemporaneous Decision Files.

Data and Information as Business Assets (2:10:41)Description: Overview regarding development of data as a framework for business endeavors, how a knowledge management culture ensures that mission data needs are met, industry-established data governance practices, and key core competencies of recognized data stewards.

  8. Effective Use of Contracting (1:48:51)Description: Overview of the contracting process, using the blanket purchase agreement (BPA) for NEPA and Planning documents, and other contracting vehicles available to an interdisciplinary team (IDT) in a field or district office.
