Visitor Use Formulas

  1. Meet the Instructor  ( 00:41)Description: This lesson introduces the Instructor for this portion of your training.

  2. Visitor Use Formulas  (08:54)Description: In this Lesson you are going to learn about visitor use formulas. You will be able to explain how the RMIS Database uses formulas and be able to develop a formula from observational data. You’ll also be able to explain the different methods for counting overnight use, create and edit a formula, and apply the corridor concept when developing formulas for rivers, roads, trails, areas and SRPs.

  3. Developing Formulas  (09:52)Description: In this lesson we are going to learn about developing a formula from observations.

  4. Create Edit Formulas (07:18)Description: In this Lesson we’re going to learn how to create and edit formulas. Now we will be using a site in our example for creating a formula and the process for creating formulas for rivers, roads, trails, area designations, and SRP’s is similar, but it’ll be covered separately in the corridors section. Let’s jump into the RMIS Program and see how to create our formulas.

  5. Corridor Formulas (15:37)Description: In this lesson you will learn how to create formulas for corridors. Corridors are linear types of recreation areas including rivers, roads and trails. Area designations likes WSAs are more like polygon instead of a linear corridor, but the corridor concept can still be applied. The same is true for some SRPs. Let’s take a look at the concept behind the corridor.

  7. Summary Tips (02:13)Description: In the Summary, we are closing with some tips for developing formulas. Your formulas should reflect the use for the specific area and not simply duplicate another area’s formula. Also, the total number of visitor hours for a day use formula, should be the same as the average length of stay.
