The objective of the course is to understand the nature of BLM's cultural resources, how they are managed, and the authorities under which they are managed, including: what cultural resources are, the diversity of the cultural resources managed by BLM, why cultural resources are important, the basic requirements of various historic preservation laws, the different ways in which cultural resources are managed, and how land uses can impact cultural resources.
