Managing Historic Period Mining Resources (8100-10)

This course will help cultural resource specialists recognize and understand the diverse types of archaeological and historic resources associated with mining and related activities. Participants will learn about methods of background research, field recordation, and advanced documentation and study. The course offers advice on evaluating resource integrity, significance, and eligibility for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. It also provides a basis for developing and implementing management actions to protect resources, mitigate adverse effects, and stabilize sites for long-term preservation or interpretive use.
